Now that you have your site up and running, where are all your visitors? It’s one thing to have a site, it’s another thing getting people to come to your site. In this article I will show you some great, simple ways to help you promote your site… all for free.
Over the years, I’ve learned a lot of different ways to promote myself and my business on the internet for free. Yes, for free. I have narrowed it down to the most simple and effective routes I use. I’ve never spent one penny on advertising for my sites or myself and have always managed to get enough business that I don’t need to spend those advertising dollars.
So, here is the run down on how to get visitors to your site for free:
Write articles based on what you know.
Writing an article is one of the best ways that you can get yourself out there AND promote yourself as an authority figure in the field you write about. Every newsletter, website, or anywhere else that publishes articles is usually more than happy to publish articles for you for free and all of them allow a paragraph at the end of the article as an “About the author” section. This is where you get to tell everyone about you, about the article, about your business, and links to what you are promoting.
Sign up for free online groups, forums, discussion groups, and news groups related to your field or the target audience you are trying to reach.
Sign up for every discussion group, every email discussion list, every forum, every news group that contains your target audience. Once you’ve signed up, POST, POST, POST! The more you post, the more likely your link will be seen and clicked. Get yourself a Gmail account, a Yahoo account, and any other account that offers discussion lists, search their lists, and sign up for ones that pertain to your business. Answer any questions that you know the answers to, make sure to correspond as much as you can with time permitting. Just make sure that you post a link to your site, and a paragraph about your site, or as much as the site/group will permit.
Social Networking
Yes, a lot of you may think that you are too old, or this isn’t for you, but social networking is a HUGE resource for getting people to your site, letting people know what you do, etc. Sign up for a Myspace account. Think of it as a business account. Sign up for every group they offer and allow people to add you as friends without any security. If you take a look at popular music groups, you can see how they allow everyone to add them as a friend. This is very useful because of the “Bulletin Space”. Once you have a lot of friends in the areas you want, post bulletins!! This is one of the most overlooked ways to advertise yourself and your company. Just make sure you post in a NON spam.
Keep business cards on you at all times.
Always make sure to keep a healthy amount of business cards with you. Also make sure that they are up to date with your name, address, email address, phone, and URL. This is very important. Now, pass them out. They are a great way to let people know you exist! Make sure that every business card comes with a handshake and a smile. The more you hand out the more people will come!!!
Well, with all that said, I hope you can get a good grasp on some free outlets advertising and promotions to help get your site up and running! If you have any questions or comments related to this article feel free to send me an email at: sales@studiointeractive.net
